Each fall, the American Furniture Hall of Fame Foundation hosts a gala banquet to honor the individuals who are inducted into the Hall of Fame. The "Affie" is presented to each inductee who then becomes a permanent member, the industry’s highest honor.

Affie Award

In 2009, the new Affie was designed by Mark Tucker III, a furniture designer with Home Line Furniture and a graduate of Kendall College of Art and Design. Presented to each member inducted into the American Furniture Hall of Fame, the flame symbolizes the enduring spirit of the furniture industry and the energy required to achieve the accomplishments, innovation and leadership of each Hall of Fame Member.

Handcrafted by Appalachian artisan metal crafters, the new Affie features a copper flame, circled by a metal infinity band. A black collar rests on a turned wooden based of solid, vintage black walnut, reclaimed from a barn built in 1887 in Wonewoc, Wisconsin, courtesy of Turning House Furniture.

Development of the new Affie was generously underwritten by the Berkshire Hathaway furniture companies: Jordan's Furniture, Nebraska Furniture Mart, R.C. Willey Home Furnishings and Star Furniture.

From original industry artifacts, to patents, oral interviews, drawings, photographs, historical biographies of industry founders, company histories, manufacturing techniques and much, much more, the American Furniture Hall of Fame Foundation archives offer a tremendous array of resources to individuals and organizations both inside and outside the furniture industry.

Please consider donating artifacts, either personally or corporately, to the Foundation. If we do not preserve our priceless industry memorabilia now, they will not be available for future generations. Please help us preserve our heritage and history, and the wisdom or the leaders whose outstanding achievements have contributed to the continued growth and development of the U.S. furniture industry.
